# Opera

> API-first trading missions over WebSocket

Opera is an API-first trading challenge. Copy a short-lived token, send orders from your own client, and react to live fills and state. The on-screen ladder is for reading and verifying your code unless Click trading is enabled in Opera Settings.

## Objective

Complete each mission and collect P\&L along the way.

Skills targeted: programmatic order entry, token auth and live updates, market making from code.

Open Opera from the Simulator hub (or go to `/opera`).

## How a session works

1. Sign in and open Opera. Copy the API token (do not share it; tokens expire quickly).
2. Connect to `wss://www.getavenir.co/ws` and authenticate with `operaConnect`.
3. Follow the mission panel goals (two-sided quotes, joining a static bot, price constraints, reacting to hits).
4. Place and cancel via `operaPlace` / `operaCancel` / `operaCancelAll`. Listen for `operaResult`, `operaState`, and `orderBook`.
5. Advance through missions as each goal is met. On `status: 401`, copy a fresh token and reconnect.

Starter snippets and full message schemas live in the API Reference.

## Settings

* **Click trading** — when off, the ladder is view-only for your bot client; when on, you can also trade from the UI.
* **Show API token card** — toggle the token panel on the live page.
